Jewellery Care
We know your jewellery is precious to you so here are our top tips to help you to make your treasures last.
Cleaning Your Jewellery
Using a soft, lint-free cloth helps to keep silver, gold and rose gold jewellery looking shiny and lustrous. Avoid using tissue paper or paper towels to clean metal and stones as they can cause scratching.
Storing Your Jewellery
Place your jewellery in the pouches that come with your purchase and store in a dry, dark place to protect your jewellery from knocks, scratches, chemicals, sunlight and heat/cold which can dull or tarnish your pieces.
When Wearing Your Jewellery
Remove jewellery when showering or bathing. Particularly when on the beach, in the sea, and in chlorinated water.
Avoid wearing jewellery when doing physical work, housework, gardening or when exercising.
Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products, especially bleach as this can tarnish your jewellery.
Try to avoid spraying perfume or hairspray on gemstones or pearls as it can damage these materials.
Remove your jewellery when applying make-up, creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture or gemstone setting.
Keep away from extreme temperatures and humidity to preserve the integrity of your pieces.
Gemstone Care
Since many gemstones are quite delicate, hot water, harsh chemicals and cleaners should be avoided at all times unless using special products that are safe. We advise cleaning your precious stones with a clean, soft, damp cloth after wearing. Very porous stones such as turquoise and emeralds should be cleaned using an untreated, dry, soft cloth only. Do not use tissue paper or paper towels to clean gemstones as they can cause scratching.
Make sure to have a jeweller inspect your gemstone settings every 6 months to avoid any potential loss of gemstones. The settings can be delicate and move when knocked or caught in something.
Whilst basic cleaning can be done at home, we recommend having your jewellery professionally cleaned and inspected (check your stone settings regularly) every 6 months or depending on the need.
